I somehow lost the small bag with my wallet, IPOD and a few other things on the Narita express and spent a day asking around within the crazy JR(Japan Rail) bureaucracy. Notice how I said "somehow" lost it? The fact is the incident is sort of murky. We just got off a 13 hour flight, dealt with customs and immigration, cell phone rentals and validating our Japan Rail passes. We were both tired and hot. When we got on the Narita Express J. kept asking me if the train had power outlets. I did one of two things, put the bag down on a chair to check for outlets or put it down as I was maneuvering my suit case on the luggage racks. Two minutes later when I went for my seat I noticed I didn't have the little bag. I completely panicked thinking I might have left it in the JR office. We got off the train so I could look thus missing the 3:15 Narita Express. So I retraced my steps and when I couldn't find it anywhere we deduced it had to be on the train. Jason being the sharp one - talked to the station master and cleaners at Shinjuku and we left my cell number. In the morning we got a call and I had to go back to Narita to pick it up.
I Luckily the wallet is back. Learned some interesting things about Japanese bureaucracy which I will write at a later time.
Of course all the pictures I took today I can't get to down load to my computer nor J's computer - both saying that the disk needs to be formated. I can see the pictures just fine on my camera. Damn, guess I will have to try some disk recovery software when I get back to Boston. I will take more pictures tomorrow to make up for it.
Ah well, the weather is beautiful, the food is good and J is with me, what more can I ask for!
