Hike Thursday October 15, 2009

Thursday we took a hike outside of Osaka . The town is a upscale suburb in the area between Osaka and Kobe. To get to the  hike we had to walk through the town up a hill through a very exclusive area and following a canal.

Eventually the road turned into the mountains and the canal turned into a mountain creek. Up about a mile there is a tea house and a bridge and the trail leads up into the mountains.

Scrambling up rocks and at one time using a chain to go over some boulders. We were rewarded with this view of the Kansai Osaka area.

On the trail we encountered at least 5 elderly Japanese men and women scrambling up this rocky trail. It was impressive. The last woman on the way down had a cane but managed to get down off the rocks.
I saw this house on the way back –

and a view back from where we came.
